Review of Supply and Demand of Further Education in Scotland
This project aims to undertake a systematic review of the current supply of and demand for FE provision in Scotland. FE colleges are at the centre of those aspects of the Governmentís education and training strategies which are aimed at raising skill levels in the population as a whole, widening participation and promoting social inclusion.
Colleges have also a major role to play as part of the education and training infrastructure being put in place in initiatives such as the Scottish University for Industry and the University for the Highlands and Islands.
While the FE sector has been given a pivotal role in delivering the Learning Society, especially with regard to increasing access, a major theme running through the strategic framework for FE is the need for the sector to become more aware of the needs of both its existing and potential markets. This research will make a major contribution to raising awareness by mapping existing provision and identifying unmet demands and needs.
