As part of its interest in widening participation and the student experience CRLL has a major focus on transition or articulation from vocational to higher education, especially in Scotland. Our approach to researching articulation and broader student transitions reflects a coordinated, evidence-based, approach to researching the field. It builds on and contributes to collaborative working with staff across the university at central and school level, with the Student’s Association, as well as with partner colleges and other organisations.
CRLL’s research interest in this field is underpinned by its responsibility for key development projects which encapsulate both institution specific and broader policy aspirations and by the work of the Student Experience Project. The Scottish Funding Council funded Greater Glasgow Articulation Partnership, comprises a significant programme of work to strengthen articulation routes, develop more transparent learning pathways and ensure a more seamless transition from college to university. CRLL also has a key role in improving transition, progression through the Moving Forward institution-wide initiative.
